SO GOOD - food was so delicious and such good quality. Perfect portions and exactly what I wanted of traditional Greek with a bit of creativity. If you are visiting this is a great little stop to grab something for here/to go. Thanks so much for the meal 🙂
Wow. This place is awesome. I had a lamb gyro; it was perfect in every way and earned this place five stars.
I decided to try the pork "yeero" before I left. I'm not usually impressed by gyros of any meat besides lamb. Sure, you can make many tasty gyro like handhelds, but they are never as good as a gyro. That was my opinion until today when I tried the pork.
Oh my gosh. Outstanding. I can't wait to come back. I'm telling everyone about this place!
I haven't tried too many Greek restaurants in Pittsburgh, and I don't eat Greek often, but Evia had high ratings. And, I unfortunately missed Greek Festival this year! It's a small shop 30 minutes away from my house. I decided to give them a try. Order the Keftethes (Greek meatballs), baklava cheesecake, Melomakarona (honey and walnut cookies), Galaktoboureko, and saganaki with pita.
Wow, this food was very good. The meatballs were flavorful and huge! Their entree portions are absolutely enormous and it was just $12! Such a great deal. Their tzatziki dip pairs excellently with these meatballs. I could have bought a bottle of that sauce, or ordered an entire appetizer of tzatziki with pita. It's that good. Their rice is fluffy and buttery. Very good texture for rice (but no mix ins).
The saganaki was an interesting appetizer. I bet it's a lot better if you dine in (I picked up my order) because it's called 'flaming cheese' meaning it should be hot. Still, I microwaved it and this cheese is for sure high quality (imported Kefalograviera cheese). It's somewhat like a combination of mozzarella with feta, but hardened. There is pita served with it, and this pita is very good. Way better than store bought. I love that it soaked up some of the cheese oils.
Their desserts are also very high quality and clearly homemade. My favorite was surprisingly their Melomakarona, honey and walnut cookies. The price is excellent and the flavors are too. Buttery, sweet, and just incredible. For just $3, why not try them? Just add them to your order, and you'll enjoy these lovely cookies which are typically eaten at Christmas time.
The 2 other desserts I tried were good, but not as good as the cookies. The galaktoboureko was tasty but I wish there was more custard. The honey topping was great though, and there was quite a bit of cinnamon. The Baklava cheesecake was creamy and unique. The crust was made of walnuts. I enjoyed it.
All in all, I highly recommend Evia Greek restaurant. I believe they are owned by the same family which owns Salonika Imports (which I've also been interested in trying). Their food is delicious, unique, authentic, and cheap for the portions! Will come back for spanakopita, pastitso, or moussaka.
Small place with several tables inside and outside plus two “bars” to sit at along the wall. Delicious food! The pulled pork gyro, the regular gyro and the Greek grilled cheese were delicious meals. The hummus and Greek fries were awesome starters. Don’t skip it baklava cheesecake because it is super delicious!
Great place for gyros and Greek cuisine. Smaller dining area, but always a great choice for pick-up orders.
Heard about this awesome Greek place from a friend. Let me just say their Greek fries are out of this world. Hand cut with skin left on, with greek seasoning, feta crumbles and 2 dipping sauces, you can easily share these amongst 2 people.
Let me just say, i have tried hand cut fries in my 50 years of eating, these were exceptional. The freshness, seasoning and feta with the dips, awesome.
The pork yeero, lamb yeero and vegetarian wrap were also a big hit. Fresh taste and good portion size. The people working here enjoy what they do and crank out high quality food. You have to try for yourself.
Great addition to the Bellevue neighborhood for sure.
Fast casual authentic Greek food. Fresh cut gyros and Yerros from the spit. Excellent portion sizes for both sandwiches and meals. …
The atmosphere inside Evia has that comfortable, local spot vibe. They have their regulars and everyone seems to know and like each other. I enjoyed my time there.
I was divided on the food. My dolmathes and side salad were delicious, but I wasn't a fan of the moussaka. It was basically a mountain of bechamel cream with a thin layer of sliced zucchini, squash, and ground beef underneath. Maybe that's how moussaka is supposed to be and the meatier versions I've had at other places are more westernized, but I would have preferred a less extreme ratio of cream to meat and veggies. That said, I will be back to try some of their other menu items. Those lamb burgers look especially tasty.
